Every now and then, I get questions about the gear I use, so here’s a list. That said, I don’t believe great photographs come from expensive equipment or shooting "film". Gear and format are just tools; it’s the photographer’s eye, the way they see the world that make a picture.

Nikon ZF

The Nikon ZF is a full-frame digital camera with a retro design that hearkens back to the days of the legendary Nikon FM2 film camera. I bought this camera not for specs but simply because I like the tactile feel of the buttons and its layout. Much of what makes a camera "good" for you is the ergonomics and design.

NIKKOR Z 40mm f/2 (SE)

The NIKKOR Z 40mm f/2 (SE) is a compact lens with a classic design that pairs well with the Nikon ZF. I enjoy the 40mm focal length for its versatility, giving me a natural perspective that works well for documentary work without feeling too wide or too tight. It's just right.

Tamron 150-500mm

I use the Tamron 150-500mm for Nikon Z mount when I go birding.
